Artist Statement
The notion of Immersion underpins Raine’s practice. Drawing inspiration from British Romanticism, her work explores light and movement, expressing the atmospherics and motions of the land, sea and sky. Oscillating between chance, control, and unpredictability, the painting process involves dynamic gestures and sweeping movements to capture the energy of the ever-changing landscape.
Raine’s paintings aim to reflect the forces of nature; its power and presence to both move and ground us.
